Kim Hopson is a disabled, limb-different artist based in Houston, Texas.

Her multidisciplinary practice explores the intersection of disability, identity, and ableism through performance, video, installation, and collage. Experiencing life with a limb difference has given her a unique perspective that is reflected in her artwork. Her intention is to create dialogue around these topics in order to spark a larger conversation.

Kim has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally. Her inaugural solo exhibition, Sweater Weather, was presented at Spoke the Hub in January of 2023. Her second solo exhibition in New York City, Belonging, was on view at Sweet Lorraine Gallery in October of 2024, in tandem with Gowanus Open Studios. Notable group exhibitions in New York City include MAMA NEEDS A RAISE at Old Stone House, Time/Space at Compère Collective, and Foggy Disco though her canopy cohort at the NY Crit Club Studio. Additionally, her work has been selected for the Kyoto Shibori Museum in Japan as part of their On Motherhood exhibition curated by Ongoing Conversation, as well as the virtual show Cut, Torn & Mended at Spilt Milk Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has been featured in numerous publications including New Visionary and Women United Art Magazine. Her video work and performances have been featured in various exhibitions nation wide. In 2025 she reenacted her performance piece ‘TASKS’ live at the event Moms Moms Moms in Brooklyn, NY.

Kim received her BFA from Texas State-San Marcos, and her M.Ed from the University of Houston with a concentration in Museum Education. She is a founding member of The Mother Creatrix Collective, a cohort of artist mothers in NYC.

Currently, Kim is a resident artist at Box 13 ArtSpace in Houston, Texas.
