Belonging
I find myself deconstructing memories from my youth, and the identities that were placed on me as a disabled teen growing up in Texas.
I use pom pom imagery repeatedly as a visual symbol that amplified my otherness during my youth. I felt as a teen the pressure to force my body to conform to something more palatable for others. I revisit these memories in my artwork, reclaiming the narrative.
